 In the graffiti world we all heard of ” Chaka LOD” the infamous tagger who killed LA and beyond. His tags and throw-ups where seen all over in the late 80’s early 90’s. Even everyday people have come across hearing his name. He made news back in the days with being sought after for fucking shit up. Almost twenty years later he is having his first gallery art show displaying his work.

If your car windows get busted or you need a new yanta Mission Road got all that plus more. The gritty street starts near the 10 fwy around the vicinity of 7th street, and runs north turning into Huntington Dr. There are homes on some parts of Mission Road, but it is mostly industrial buildings and one giant man. Oh I can’t forget the El Pato Hot Sauce Factory on Mission, thanks El Pato the food I made today with you was yummy.

I was driving down Mission just off Cesar Chavez and stopped to take some pictures. I just wanted to explore the cuts and crevasses around and see what I would run into.
For those who have love for our beautiful concrete oasis better known as the LA River and would like to show off your theater skills, check this out.
The Cornerstone Theather Company is holding audiitons this Upcoming Saturday for a LA River based production called “Flow” written by Julie Herbert and directed by Juliette Carillo.
Being a fan of the LA River I though this was a very unique concept for a play. If anybody is interested here is the information.

“Valentine’s Day Nopales” or maybe not! but since that so called special is coming up why not pretend they are “Valentine’s Day Nopales”. Forget all those fake expensive dinners, long lines, cheesy teddy bears and over priced flowers. I personally do not care much about Valentine’s Day but on the other hand my honey Raul (whom I been with for five years) does care about Valentine’s Day. I told him he could stop worrying about that day a few years back and that I don’t need any of the commercialism of Valentine’s Day. He still would insist we do something, so to make him happy we just cook a small dinner together.
For those planning making dinner or something Valentine’s Day or any day try this recipe I got from a good friend who loves nopales and has many really good recipes using nopales.

Please come join us this Thursday in downtown Los Angeles for a special charity can drive benefiting the children of ” Casa Hogar La Immaculada” In Tijuana, Mexico.
La Casa Immaculada is an orphanage with over 100 abused and abandoned kids, this event will help donate the much needed food to the orphanage.
Everyone is welcome to come spread the word!
There will be food, drinks, music and a performance by Jeprocket
Sticks and Stones Magazine will also be shooting photos for their upcoming issue.

 I see beauty in most things, like dark, lonely, trash filled streets. I am not scared I explore it and find the uniqueness of what it is or what it once was. Graffiti and trash can be art if you want it to be, I guess it depends on who looks at it. I taken many strolls around the city and seen great streets that boom during working hours and are left dead at night.

With the Dodgers so close in the playoffs, Angelenos are anticipating for their beloved team to bring home another World Championship!
It was 1988 when the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Oakland Athletics four games to one. It was by far an exciting time in Dodger history, but that was well over twenty years ago it’s time for for another well deserved victory!
I got to thinking what ever happened to the old Dodger Championship Mural that was located next door to The Original Texas BBQ KIng on N Cesar Chavez and Figueroa. I remember always looking and seeing the old faded mural when ever I passed by. Artist Peter Quezada painted the mural in 1988 shortly after the Dodger victory.
I was near El Centro recently and seen these treats at the check out counter at the local AM PM. I only really seen edible crickets for sale at El Mercadito or sometimes at swap meets, and they are usually in big tambos sold by the pound. I know in some places in Mexico they are a common snack (or maybe its grasshoppers?). I am not sure if they are being sold at any LA am pm yet, but maybe just maybe I might get the nerve and try them.
They got a variety of flavors too; bacon and cheese, salt and vinegar, sour cream and onion yum!
I Googled the company Hotlix and to my surprise they been in the business over 20 years! and got tons of other insect treats.

It is odd how things come to ones mind out of the blue.
Last week I met this homeless man who inspired a poem for really no reason, now I am no poet but the words just came to to me while text messaging with a friend.
He appeared in my sight after we got out of Bar 107 on so called “Reggae Night”. After calling it a night we headed out the joint towards Main st, no matter what if you in the area your most likely gonna get hit up for change by the homeless population left in the vicinity. One of my friends knew a few of them from working in the area so it was pretty normal. I myself never really been scared of homeless, I usually am real curious about their lives and many times I like to talk to them.

I ran into this interesting memorial near an auto graveyard (aka) junkyard. It was kind of ironic to see this kind of loss in- between the corrugated fences, metal scraps and broken fenders of cars ready to be buried as well.
The 24 hr Cafe is a western themed place in the industrial part of Long Beach. This family owned establishment has been serving customers with home cooked meals since the early days of diners and coffee shops.This place pretty much is considered a truck stop and by all means has the elements of one, but I say it’s a truck stop with some character!
I’ve passed by this Cafe many times, but I never really thought about eating in there. One day I just happen to be riding around taking pictures and stopped right in front of it, just like a magnet I was somehow drawn in.
