Not long ago, I was waiting for my order of tacos to come out of one of my favorite trucks parked near Chavez and Evergreen. The wait was long, (as usual-but worth it!) and as I stared off into space, trying to find my taco-waiting “Zen†zone, I began observing the Evergreen Jogging Path across the street. Continue reading

Eagle Rock Music Festival 2008
I hadn’t been to any of the previous ones but since a couple of friends had glowing reviews of last years Eagle Rock Music Festival, I figured it was time to check it out. They were right, it’s a very fun festival with a good mix of bands, food, booths, and most notably, people. (It’s kinda like the Sunset Junction used to be in the early days which just reminds me how bad that “festival” has become.) I was only there for a short time, but click ahead if you want to see what I saw!
LH Sidewalk Sale: A Synopsis
I ran into the Lincoln Heights Sidewalk Sale quite by accident today and I took just a few pics to capture the vibe of this one. Click ahead if you want to see!
(In LH, it’s not a real holiday until you see these paintings show up in the shop windows, done by some guy I’m told is named Picaso. Bring on the Halloween!)

Eastside, My Ass!
Just when I was feeling really pissed off at all the Babósos who keep insisting on appropriating the Eastside name (recent examples: edenexibition.com, theeastsiderla.com.) I came across this little gem today, posted on a Silver Lake street sign. Thank you God, for slapping down that sticker for me! Hallelujah!

16th of September Parade in Boyle Heights
I woke up this morning and see a horse tied up next to the stop sign at the end of my block, signifying el Dieciséis de Septiembre parade. Living in the hub of culture on the eastside is bitter (can’t get to the grocery store) and sweet (being instantly transported to Mexico with music, food and gente).

Sunday Morning Men
I went on a drive-by shooting today, click ahead to see the devastating results. Above, one of my targets: the Sombrero and Cap Gang out on an early mission! (BTW, all the following pics can be clicked to be seen in a larger size. Oh yeah, and the photos are kinda big, so the page may load slowly.)
LA Mag: A Review
Oh look, that newspaper subscription I keep meaning to cancel has put out a new magazine. Hmm, maybe this time it’ll be a little more reflective of the larger Los Angeles and stop being so Westside Provincial? Haha. As the cover says: Dream On!
