I wrote a post a couple of months ago about finding a full-on restaurant parked inside of a gas service station in Monterey Park.
Well, since then I’ve run across a few more. Check it out!….. This place was at a Shell station in Boyle Heights.
Tacos El Compita. Inside the service station between the Coke dispenser and the vitamin water.
You can even get a whole order of “Barbacoa” here. I did not try the food though. Porque tenia gánas!
Here are a couple more places I’ve seen & visited lately, these were in the westside…..
Frozen yogurt……..”Your Guéy!”
Here’s a very special place I discovered inside of a Chevron station on the westside. “CHRONIC TACOS“.
Pass that Taco to the Left-Hand side!…….
you can check out their website at www.eatchronictacos.com.
If anyone finds any other gas station eateries of note, Let me know! Happy Motoring & Buen Provecho!
that shell station is the one next to the 5 freeway and across the park.
Interesting..i think i would go for the Subway, their breakfast sandwiches are pretty tasteful and satisfying.
This is known as co-branding in the fast food industry. These places exist since it is quite well researched that 80% of the time someone eats any sort of fast food it is on IMPULSE and not premeditated. And since it seems that most Americans feel that their stomach is a gas tank and food is mere fuel, it makes perfect sense to combine a gasoline station with fast food.
But we are not machines, but living beings feeding on other living beings (whether plant or animal), hence why I (now) never ever frequent these spots. Cook at home! Make time for the most important thing in your life!
Potheads love talking about the weed, even when they’re talking about tacos. Oddly, all the chronic places are by the beach or way out in middle America. Are they cornering the market? I could be persuaded to try that veggie breakfast burrito, of course, only for research purposes!
I hold my nose when I walk inside to pay to fill my tank at the Shell station on 4th and Cummings – it smells like Subway. I don’t particularly like the smell of Subway but some friends of mine do. This Shell station also has a welcome sign in Korean above the entrance/exit doors.
