I’d heard rumors oh for many, many years that at long last another issue of SSP would see the light of day. I didn’t believe it, and still don’t, but CT is so convinced of its resurrection that there is an actual “Publication Release” planned for Saturday, March 9th 2013 at 8pm over at Espacio 1839 in Boyle Heights. Seeing is believing buddy. Notice it doesn’t say Release Party? I did. O pues.
If you don’t know, Sal Si Puedes is one of the best literary magazines to come out of the Eastside. I did a review of issue #3 waaaaayyy back in 2005, you should go read it.
See, doesn’t that sound interesting? It might take another decade for the next issue to come out so if I were you I’d hurry in to get my copy. The going rate is $10 but if you mention that you heard about it on LA Eastside, CT will let you have it for $9.99 and will throw in a free knock-knock joke. Yer welcome!
See ya there!

el chavo,
i thank you for the mostly kind words (subject rolls eyes. ja!)
i wanna thank the academy. despite the uncomfortable seats, i have seen some good movies there. of course, i wish to thank the Almighty, so Evan, thank you. and lastly, Jesus. Chuy, you have been a good friend.
i sit here, with boxes of zines, so yes it is true, SSP 4 is alive! i now wince just a bit as i review the piece on mari in queretaro. did i really have to include my embarrassing emails? cupid, you horny bastard!
i must say, ssp 4 looks alright. very bright and cheerful, if ya don’t mind images of nukes and burning kids. and like that great wordsmith, flava flav, once melodied, “it weighs a ton.”
will the next issue take a decade? will there even be another? wtf knows. i do have other projects and they need tending. how will i be tetherball champ again, if i don’t put in hours in at the gym, no?
happy that the site is back up and that the zine is born again! i am reminded of the ending of zoot suit. “welcome back,” says pachuco guy. and hank says, “it’s good to be home.”
so again, thanks for the announcement and it is fine folks like you (subject rolls eyes again. ja!) who appreciate the nuanced and frank phrasings of those from the eastside, see ya tonight.
